Golf Club La Colombera
A relaxed Franciacorta garden-course where 12 technical holes, flowers and an easy clubhouse rhythm make golf feel social again
Golf Club La Colombera is one of the most unusual golf stops in Lombardy because it replaces classic championship rhetoric with a floral, informal and highly playable Franciacorta atmosphere. The current 12-hole routing is compact but technical, with water in play and an easy social tone that makes the club feel more welcoming than performative.

Bornato — Castello e cantina in Franciacorta
Bornato is one of the most natural cultural extensions of La Colombera because it brings together Castello Orlando, the small village and the cellar culture of Franciacorta at its most authentic. It is close enough to stay light, yet strong enough to give the round a real aftertaste of stone, vines and hill light.
“Go in the late afternoon, walk a short loop through the village and then stop for a single glass nearby. The point is not to collect wineries, but to let Bornato frame the day historically.”
Torbiere del Sebino — Passerelle tra canneti e acqua
Torbiere del Sebino is the right walking counterpoint for La Colombera because it replaces the club's compact rhythm with wooden boardwalks, reeds, open water and real birdlife. It is one of the few places nearby where the post-round hours can become a slow physical walk rather than just a viewpoint stop.
“Enter from the south side in the last hours of daylight and keep to one short loop. From there the reeds warm quickly and the reserve sheds much of its day-trip traffic.”
Erbusco — Tavola bresciana e calice di Franciacorta
The most coherent table finish for La Colombera is not a tasting menu but a real Franciacorta table in Erbusco, where risotto, Brescian salumi and one well-chosen glass matter more than theater. It keeps the day anchored to the territory instead of dressing it up as a generic gourmet experience.
“Book early and keep the wine to one bottle for the table. After golf, Franciacorta works better as freshness and precision than as a marathon of labels.”
Rodengo Saiano — L'abbazia olivetana tra i vigneti
Founded in 1040 as a Cluniac priory, the Abbey of San Nicola is now home to Olivetan monks and shelters frescoes by Moretto da Brescia that even most locals have never seen up close. The great cloister, with its Renaissance arcades, holds a silence that the surrounding Franciacorta — vines, cellars, wine tourism — simply cannot offer. A one-hour guided visit changes how you read the landscape outside.
“The monks lead tours in the morning — arrive before 10:30 to find the cloister still in long shadow and nearly empty.”
Corna Trentapassi — Cresta di roccia sul Sebino
A limestone ridge rising sheer above Lago d'Iseo to 882 metres, from which the lake looks like a relief map and the Rhaetian Alps spread without interruption. The trail climbs from Zone through heather and dwarf pine, narrow and mildly exposed — nothing technical, but wild enough to keep the lakeside crowds well below. In autumn the cliffs turn amber and the lake loses its turquoise shimmer, going steel-grey.
“Set off from Zone after 9am to catch raking light on the pale limestone, then enjoy the cool shaded descent on the Vigolo side.”
